I feel like they completely overlook that sort of “nerd” on the show
It seems to me that in real life countless Metalheads are also into “nerdy” things. Star Wars, World Of Warcraft, Magic The Gathering, Etc etc.
Metal in itself can be viewed as the music of choice for “nerds” due to its often intellectual and/or technical nature. That’s why it is so popular amongst this sort of people.
So I think they should have a character who is one, of course always sporting black T shirts with metal/rock bands on them.
I think it could make for some interesting scenarios for episodes.
Like what if they took Sheldon to a Death Metal band show or something, just imagine how awkward and funny Sheldon would be in that situation.
Or if Sheldon comes home from work and finds Leonard & the Metalhead guy smoking weed on his spot on the couch, how funny that could be
Then it also seems like they don’t really touch base with the Anime sort of nerds, I think it’d be funny if they had a character who was completely obsessed with Anime. Make it outrageous, have the character show up randomly dressed up like an anime character sometimes even.
These characters could be main cast, or they could be sort of secondary like Leslie Winkle & Wil Wheaton. Either way I think they’d make fun additions to the show.
So the questions are :
1.Should they add an edgier, metal/rock nerd to the cast?
2.Should they add an Anime obsessed sort of nerd to the cast?
BQ : If not these or in addition to these, what bases of nerd-dom do you think they overlook that could be added to the cast, if any at all?
